Joseph, a graduate of Central Bucks East High School and former Montessori Development Alumni, still comes back to visit his teachers and classroom. When he enters his classroom he says, “It’s like coming home.” “When I walk into my old classroom it brings out the four-year old in me. I can always go back to practical life and doing the binomial cube.”Alumni Testimonial
Christopher, a graduate of Holicong Middle School and former Montessori Development alumni, often revisits his fond memories. “I remember snack time and how it reminds me to care and share with friends and I still fold my napkin the same way I did back then. In my first year of Spanish at Holicong, I felt confident entering the classroom because of the basics I learned at MDC. Yoga class helped me learn to be calm and how to balance a grape on my stomach and I got to eat the grape afterwards.Alumni Testimonial
As the parent of two graduates now in high school, I believe my children continue to reap the benefits from the Montessori foundation every year – most obviously through their love of learning. To me it is not only what they learned while at MDC, but more importantly how they learned it and how they learned to learn it that has set the foundation for their success. Every single teacher and coach they have had through the years has commented on this particular trait. In school, on the playing field and now as they start with their first jobs they are blessed with this passion to learn that is practical and natural and seemingly effortless – just as it was when they were toddlers starting on the red shelf. And while others see it and comment on it – to my children it is just the way it is, they can’t even imagine any other way. P.S. Every day I am grateful to have had the opportunity to give them the gift of a Montessori beginning. It has made my job through the years since much, much easier!Pat, 1999
“A magical place” describes the Montessori Development Center. Our son Schuyler blossomed and grew in a location that truly instills a love of learning in their students. The environment is nurturing, respectful and rich with interesting materials. Each child’s needs are met at their level and there is no limit as to where the child can stretch to meet their individual capabilities. Our child was so happy at attend MDC. As parents we were so glad that we found a wonderful school where our son could grow, develop and just enjoy being a child. We truly miss MDC and talk about the school often.Beth & Kevin, 2009
WOW! Where has time gone? It seems like just a short time ago Kaitlyn was spending time in the Green Room and now here we are and she’s graduating high school. The strong foundation she got academically as well as socially at MDC certainly started her on the path to success. It saddens me greatly that so many school systems see services and education programs targeted at early childhood as one of the first items for cutting to balance budgets. After much agonizing deliberation, she chose to attend a small liberal arts college, Carleton College in MN, over Notre Dame. The decision literally came down to the last hour. In the end Carleton won out by providing the most personnel campus visit (although still a very close tie with Notre Dame – ND 8,000 student size was one hurdle too big to overcome). Kaitlyn wanted small and small she got, Carleton having a little over 2,000 students. It’s a very good establishment and that’s what matters in the end. Thank you for your part in getting her started on the path!Karen, 2011
